PR Department Participates in Erasmus Mundus Workshop in Brussels
The Vrije University in Brussels held a workshop on the Erasmus Mundus cooperation and mobility of students program from the 24th to 26th September. Representatives from 13 universities in Europe and middle-income countries attended, with An-Najah National University represented by Dr Nabil Alawi Director of the Public Relations Department and Coordinator of the Scholarships Unit, and Maram Fakhouri, Assistant Coordinator of the Scholarships Unit. The University’s participation in this program is expected to benefit by receiving invitations to apply for scholarships for its undergraduate and graduate students.
During the workshop, participants made presentations about their higher educational systems and curricula, and on the possibilities for exchanges for undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Alawi said that discussions and brain-storming sessions were organized and meetings with other delegations were made. The participants visited the Flemish Parliament building where Dr. Alawi gave a speech on the Palestinian people and their struggle. He highlighted the conditions of higher education in Palestine.
The Erasmus Mundus program is a cooperation and mobility program in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world. It supports European top-quality Masters Courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It also provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals participating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships for EU-nationals studying at Partner universities throughout the world.
