Pianist Eric Schneider Performs in the University Auditorium
German solo pianist, Eric Schneider, gave a concert in the auditorium of the university’s old campus, delighting the audience with his interpretations of various pieces. He prefaced the event by emphasizing the importance of continuing to live life as normally as possible, in spite of the extreme difficulties the city frequently faces. He then played Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata in E major, op.109, Sonata in A flat major, op.110, and Sonata in c minor, op.111, as well as works by Lubak, Shoman, and Jenseek.
Eric Schneider is considered one of the most famous pianists in Europe today, often working with the elite of Germany’s young singers. Christine Schنfer, Christiane Oelze, and Matthias Goerne are among his constant performance partners. He has given concerts in important halls around the world and has recorded numerous CDs with renowned singers.
Mr. Schneider received his diploma as a piano soloist in Cologne, Germany. Early encounters with ‘Lieder’ repertoires inspired him to concentrate on this genre of performance. He studied with a number of outstanding singers, such as Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. In addition, during the 1990s, he completed a conducting course under Rolf Reuter at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory in Berlin. For several years Eric Schneider has been concentrating on solo performances, appearing as a soloist in famous European and Japanese concert halls.
The concert concluded with a dramatic rendition of Beethoven’s Sonata Fantasia. At the end of the concert, Schneider thanked An-Najah National University for hosting the event, as well as thanking the Sa’eed Brinboim Association, and the Nablus Culture Committee. Before leaving, Mr. Schneider held a workshop for music students in the Nablus Culture Committee.
