PCDIC conducts a workshop
The Poison Control and Drug Information Center (PCDIC) conducted a workshop in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MOH) regarding the up-to-date protocols in poison management. The workshop was held at the MOH in Nablus
Speakers emphasized on the important role that An-Najah performs to serve the local community, and to the crucial role the PCDIC provides. They spoke about the important role the PCDIC plays in guiding the management of poisoning cases and in increasing the awareness about this important topic through conducting such workshops. They requested that the PCDIC continues to hold such workshops and more continuous medical education sessions to update the healthcare providers on the latest protocols used in the management of poisoning.
During the workshop, Dr. Ansam Sawalha, director of PCDIC, spoke about the latest protocols used in the management of poisoning. This included the general management issues and also specific decontamination pathways and specific antidotes. Then she presented the management of the most commonly encountered poisons in Palestine. Dr. Sawalha briefed the attendees about the PCDIC, its establishment, mission, and also analysis of the calls that the center had received since it started in 2006. The research articles published by the PCDIC were also included in this briefing.
The attendees were very interested in the information provided, they requested more workshops like this. All of them were provided with broachers about the PCDIC, handouts, and the antidotes list that included the doses, stocking quantities, utilization, and side effects.
