The Public Safety Committee at the University graduated yesterday, February 18^th 2010, the participants in the "Principles of Dealing with Chemical Materials" course that was organized for the cadres of Nablus Fire Department between the 14^th and 18^th

February 2010. More than 35 participants from Nablus Fire Department were involved in the course. Attended the graduation ceremony was Dr. Shaker Bitar, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Riyad Abdulkareem, President Assistant for New Campus Affairs.

The course included a special visit to Chemistry Labs, chemical materials stores, as well as field visits to different facilities at the New Campus.

The Participants welcomed the cooperation between the University and Nablus Municipality, particularly the Fire Department. Dr. Bitar said that the University is ready to offer whatever services for local community institutions in different fields. Mr. Jamal Al-Bughdadi, Director of Nablus Fire Department, thanked An-Najah and the Public Safety Committee for holding this course and pointed out to the University's role in serving the local society. He also hoped to continue cooperation between the Department and the University in the future. Dr. Amer Al-Hammuz of the Public Safety Committee delivered a lecture in which he mentioned the different types of hazardous materials that are used in Palestinian factories. At the end of the course, certificates were distributed among the participants.
