The Public Relations Department at the University and Elham Palestine Inspirational Program organized on Wednesday, 3rd of February 2010, an introductory meeting for Elham Palestine Program at the University. The meeting introduced the Program, its objectives and principles. In the meeting, Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, praised the Program and stressed the importance of education as a basis for economical and social life. He also pointed out to the significance of the teachers' role in education and instilling human values in individuals.
Dr. Marwan Awartani, Head of the Consultant Committee of Elham Program, spoke of the importance of national partnership in order to develop a proper educational environment and serve children’s well-being in their learning and education. He also emphasized the significance of innovative initiatives within the current challenges.
On the other hand, Mr. Samer Al- Ramahi, delegate of the public relations of Jawwal Company for Cellular Services talked about the importance of establishing cooperation between the company and Elham Program so as to contribute to the development and welfare of the Palestinian society.
Mr. Waheed Jubran, Director of Elham Program, spoke about the practical aspects of the Program, especially concerning the nomination and evaluation process. He also added that the Program, in its first round on 2008, received 791 initiatives, 40 of which were selected to be evaluated and publicized. Mr. Jubran further said that those who are interested in the Program can apply online through the Program's website which contains the nomination applications forms. This inspirational program was established in 2007 after extensive negotiations with the educators in the country.
The major partners of Elham Program include: Ministry of Education & Higher Education, Ministry of Health, the UNRWA, the Palestine Investment Fund, Jawwal Company for Cellular Services, Welfare Association in Palestine, MOSECO (Modern Scientific and Electric Company), the Palestinian Information Technology Association of Companies (PITA), Near East Tourism Company, Maan news network as well as other international partners such as the International Education Corporation.
