Organizing a Workshop on Classical Music at the Faculty of Fine Arts

On November 4th 2010, as part of the Cooperation and Twinning Program between the University of Lille in France and An-Najah, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University organized a special music workshop between members of the Arabesque Orchestra of the French Conservatory (Conservatoire de Paris) led by Maestro Anna Christina and a number of instructors and students at the Faculty. The workshop continued for three days in which more than 20 musicians participated.
The Orchestra played a number of musical pieces of some of the world's leading and most famous musicians including Antonio Vivaldi, Franz Joseph Haydn, Mozart, Robert Schumann, and Johann Sebastian Bach. The workshops also included discussions between the students and the musicians on the different pieces that were played.
As part of the workshop, the French Orchestra joined the Musicology Department Band at An-Najah which consisted of a number of instructors in a joint musical show which was organized at Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Theater at the New Campus. Attendees included the French Consul, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Maher Abu Eid, as well as a number of guests.
Dr. Hasan N'erat, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, as well as Dr. Ammar Qadamani, Head of the Musicology Department and Dr. Khalifah Jadallah, Public Relations Coordinator at the Musicology Department at An-Najah, thanked the guests and valued their efforts during the workshops. They also emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation between An-Najah and Lille in the different music-related fields in the future.
