Organizing a Training Course on Teaching Modern Technologies in Diagnosing Infectious Diseases at the Genes Lab
The Genes Lab at An-Najah University organized a specialized training course on teaching modern technologies in diagnosing infectious diseases, genetic diseases and some blood cancers using the PCR technique. Trainees were students from the Biotechnology and Medical Tests Department, in addition to students from the Faculty of Medicine.
The 3-day, 28-hour training was supervise by Dr. Ayman Hussein, Specialist in Biotechnology. During the course, the students were trained on the methods used to isolate the DNA and RNA genetic material from various sources, and then diagnose it using the PCR and the Real Time –PCR.
Moreover, the trainees learned how to diagnose Leukemia and the examination of cases of Leiden mutation which contributes to the occurrence of blood clotting. In addition to this, the students were trained on preparing samples the separation of the genetic material electrically.
This course is the second one to be held by the Genes Lab which aims to transfer research experience to the workers in medical labs which is important to the diagnosing of cancer at the Genes Lab.
