In cooperation with Tamer Institute for Community Education the students of the” Children Literature” course and their Instructor Muna Shaath hosted the Palestinian novelist Maya Abu Al-Hayyat where a very interesting debate took place especially about her first book for children titled: “A story before Bedtime“.

Attendees to the meeting included delegates from Tamer Institute and librarians who work with children.

Maya talked about her writing experience and her philosophy in writing for children; the students discussed how literature can address difficult issues without being dictating, referring to Maya’s book.

The students also discussed how to meet the different needs of children, respect their individuality, embrace diversity and celebrate tolerance when writing children’s books.
