In cooperation with the Faculty of Law and the Students Union Council, the National Campaign for the Return of Al-Mahd (Church of Nativity) Deportees “Ahya” organized a legal seminar at An-Najah University on the deportation issue from the point of view of the International Criminal Law. The event was held at the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence, New Campus.

Attendees included interested individuals in the issue of deportation, as well as Law students. At the beginning of the seminar, Ayman Yameen, Representative of the Students Union Council, welcomed the participants and addressed the importance of ending the deportees’ file so that the deportees can finally return to their families.

Dr. Ghassan Khaled delivered a speech on behalf of the Faculty of Law in which he spoke about the importance of collective work to highlight the importance of the deportation issue and stressed that the Faculty will maintain contact with the National Campaign in order to bring back the deportees.

A documentary film was screened which narrated the siege that was placed imposed on the Church of Nativity; the film also focused on the issue of the deportation issue and its consequences.

Mrs. Kifah Harb, Chairperson of the National Campaign, spoke about the Campaign, its objectives and goals, the work axes it targets, as well as the human aspect of the deportation issue form the point view of the deportees’ families and children. She also presented a number of human stories in this respect and explained that deportation is a violation against the rights of the Palestinians and called upon the concerned bodies to bring this case to the international and Arab communities and never leave the deportees’ cause unresolved.

Dr. Fadi Shadeed, Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, spoke about the International Criminal Law and its view of the deportation issue. He also spoke about the ways that the Palestinians could use to legally deal with the deportation issue, and explained the legal dimensions of the case.

Discussions and questions were raised during the seminar regarding the deportation issue and its impacts on the deportees themselves and their families.
