The Graduates Association of German Universities, the Public Relations Department at An Najah National University and Hanns Seidel Foundation in Palestine came together on Wednesday, the 25^th of November 2009, to organize a lecture about the fall of the Berlin Wall and the various stages in German history. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rudolf Sussmann, Regional Director of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

Dr. Rudolf Sussmann spoke about several issues such as the division and reunification of Germany, Germany after World War II, the Allies control of Germany after its defeat, the integration of both the German Democratic Republic in the Communist Soviet Regime and the Federal Republic of Germany in the Western Capital Regime. In addition to this, Dr. Sussmann also described the steps that preceded the building of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the reasons behind the economic division of the country, its defeat as well as the possibilities of reconstruction and the opening of borders in 1988.

Dr. Netham Abbasi, coordinator of the Graduates Association of German Universities at An Najah National University, said that organizing this activity comes in an effort to introduce German history and pointed out the importance of the relationship between the two German states. Finally, he concluded that by pointing out the importance of such an event gives History students the chance to know more about the German historical experience.
