On Tuesday 13 May a delegation from Stavanger University in Norway visited An-Najah University. The delegates were accompanied by Mrs. Faten Abuz’arour, the university’s social worker and welcomed by Dr. Aida Qaissi, Head of the Nursing and Midwifery Department.

Dr. Qaissi discussed with the Norwegian delegates the possibility of a cooperation agreement between An-Najah’s Department of Nursing and Midwifery and the University of Stavanger that would enable student exchanges for clinical training. It would open the possibility of An-Najah students receiving training in Stavanger University Hospitals and Stavanger students at An-Najah’s hospital.

The Norwegians informed An-Najah that the Department of Nursing and Midwifery was selected this year for the scholarship that is offered to one eligible first year female student, for whom the tuition fees for the 4 years of university would be covered.

Both Dr. Aida and Mrs. Abuza’rour then accompanied the delegates to the university hospital, and the visit concluded with Dr. Qaissi thanking them for their visit and their constant support of the Palestinian people, particularly Palestinian women.

Notes:

1-    The delegation consisted of 3 women: Jorunn Hagen, Kari Blikra, and Bjory Bodni, who are part of a support group for the Palestinian people.

2-    There is a twin agreement between the Palestinian city of Nablus and the Norwegian city of Stavanger.
