On Thursday 20 February 2014 the Arabic for Non-Natives Department of the Office of International Development and External Affairs organised an event, where international students prepared a variety of food and desserts representing each ones’ nationality: British; Italian; American; Southern Korean; Spanish; and Swedish.

The Head of Arabic for Non-Natives Department Dr Raed Abdulraheem, staff members, instructors of the Arabic and Geography Departments and some Arab students attended the event and enjoyed the various food of offer, such as: Pasta, Banoffee Pie, English Soup, Strawberry Sauce, Shawarma, Homs, Falafel, Omelette, Dolma, Fermented Bean Curd, Ouzi Rice, and many other dishes.

The event was part of An-Najah's policy to enhance non-Arabic natives’ integration within Palestinian society and culture.

Notes:

  1. The Arabic for Non-Natives programme is headed and taught by Dr Raed Abdelrahim.
  2. The main purpose of this programme is to teach students how to articulate, read and write Arabic sounds (Phonemes), as well as providing them with the lexicon, grammar and structure necessary to develop the four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  3. It also provides students with a dynamic approach to learning, allowing them the opportunity to interact with locals in Arabic and learn their culture and beliefs.
