Microsoft Company, an American public multinational corporation headquartered in Redmond, Washington, USA, selected four students from the University to join the MSP Family in Palestine. The students were: Yazan Arafat and Akram Dwaikat from the Department of Computer Engineering, as well as Huthaifah Milhes and Isra Nour from the Departments of Computer Science and Computer Information Systems at the Faculty of Information Technology.

The MSP is organized with the students at the different Palestinian universities for the academic year 2011-2012. The program aims to create joint activities between the students and the Company in its field of work and in the students’ field of study.

Microsoft Club has been recently opened at the University and was previously supervised by Engineer Zinah Malhis. Currently, the four students selected by Microsoft supervise the Club and its activities. The Club has recently organized an event titled “Meet Microsoft Club” supported by Al-Isra’ Software Company and Zain Company for Advertisement.

The “Meet Microsoft Club” event covered a number of topics including: How to build Android applications using the Visual Studio 2010 which was presented an explained by Abdel A’atheem Al-Bukhari. Akram Dwaikat delivered a presentation in which he spoke about the Club and its activities at the University, in addition to familiarizing the audience with Microsoft’s software and offers to the students.

The meeting also included an introduction about Microsoft’s competition titled “Imagine Cup” in which competitors must find technical solutions for problems that the world faces in addition to creating innovative ideas. Dwaikat thanked all those who supported the establishment of the Club especially Zainah Malhis who was the first to join it.

Faisal Alawi, who has been invited and interviewed by Microsoft, spoke about his experience with the Company and said he has been offered a job at Microsoft which he would join upon his graduation.

Dr. Abdel Raheem Abu Safa, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, congratulated the University and the students on this achievement and said the Faculty will continue to support them. Dr. Loai Malhis said Engineering students now have strong capabilities and skills that would enable them to join the technological work market.
