Malta's Representative to the Palestinian Authority Visits An-Najah

On February 21st 2010, Malta's Representative to the Palestinian Authority, Mr. Alan Bugeja, visited the University where he was received by Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, President Assistant for International and Strategic Affairs, and Mr. Ala Abu Dheer, Active Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah.
In the meeting, Prof. Abu Eid welcomed Mr. Bugeja and presented a description of the University and its facilities. He also spoke about the challenges that face higher education in Palestine and presented a documentary film that embodies the University's academic progress. He further thanked the Representative for his government's continuous support of the Palestinian people and hoped that the academic cooperation between Malta and Palestine would continue and further expand to cover more fields, especially scientific ones.
Prof. Abu Eid also spoke about An-Najah Teaching Hospital and its importance to the future of Medicine in Palestine, and focused on the importance of providing Palestinian students with opportunities to study in Malta and encourage Maltese students and professors to visit An-Najah. University President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs in turn spoke about the University's achievements internationally and that it was able to obtain several scientific awards through its researchers. She also talked about the quality of education at the University and the services it provides to the society. Moreover, she pointed out the importance of mutual relationships between Palestinian and Maltese universities in the field of student exchange and research.
Mr. Bugeja congratulated the University for the unique rank it received recently and said that the purpose behind his visit is to open and expand the scope of relationships between Palestinian and Maltese institutions. He also emphasized that the Maltese government will continue to support the Palestinian people and mentioned that there are many joint programs which will support academic and technical exchange when implemented. Mr. Bugeja then visited the New Campus and the Korean Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence where he was introduced to the many courses and programs it offers.
