Launching a Training Course on Intensive Nursing Care at the University
The Department of Nursing and Midwifery at An-Najah University started a training course that include a series of lectures for third-year Nursing students and cover different topics in the field of intensive nursing care.
The course was opened by Dr. Aidah Al-Kaissi, Head of the Nursing and Midwifery Department at An-Najah, who welcomed the students and the teachers who have contributed to the preparation of the various topics and lectures.
Dr. Al-Kaissi started with a lecture on artificial respiration, the devices used, the related development in this field, and the cases in which it is used.
Dr. Jamal Al-Qadoumi discussed the issue of pacemaker, the way it works and the cases in which it is used.
Shorouq Qadous explained the observation of Central venous pressure (CVP), measurements method, the equipment used, in addition to the significance of this measurement to all patients.
Dr. Mariam Al-Tal spoke about the measurement of pressure inside the human skull, the reasons behind the increase in this pressure in some patients, the device used to measure it and how it is measured.
Fatima Hirzallah spoke about the pulmonary artery pressure, the measurement process and its impact on patients in terms of its increase and decrease. Mahdiya Al-Koni explained the Chest Drainage Canister, the reasons behind using it, and how to deal with this tube.
Dr. Al-Kaissi explained the use of the Blakemore to stop the bleeding in the Esophagus which results from esophageal varices. She also talked about the use of the heart and lungs device in heart surgeries, in addition to the importance of this device.
Mrs. Faten Airan, Head of the Artificial Kidney Unit at the National Hospital in Nablus, delivered a lecture about Dialysis and work mechanism inside the Artificial Kidney Unit.
