Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem visited the University
His Beatitude Michel Sabbah, the Latin Patriarch and Archbishop of Jerusalem, accompanied by Father Humam Khzouz, Chancellor of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and Father Shawki Baterian, visited the University and met its Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Salah Masri, President of the University, Professor Rami Hamdallah, University administration and Christian students.
His Beatitude’s visit is considered one of the most important to the city of Nablus, a city living through particularly difficult circumstances as a result of the military siege. His Beatitude expressed his hope that peace and justice will prevail in the globe. He wished the best for the university and called for national unity in these hard times. He added that the Palestinian people’s struggle is a reaction to the occupation and that it is our duty to explain our struggle to the media.
The University President, Professor Hamdallah, thanked his guest for the visit which stands as testimony to the religious harmony that exists between all sects in Palestine. He saluted the national and political efforts of His Beatitude and briefed him on the latest developments at the university.
His Beatitude was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and the University President on a tour of the new campus and he was presented with the University Plaque in appreciation of his efforts.
