Japanese Diplomatic Delegation Visits the University
On Thursday, December 16th 2010, a High Japanese delegation from the Embassy of Japan in Tel Aviv visited the University which included Tomoaki Shiman, First Secretary and Head of the Public Information and Cultural Section, Kazuhisa Toji, Commercial Attache, as well as Tomohiko Kurimoto, Cultural and Press Attache at the Embassy.

The delegation was received by University President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs, Dr. Walid Basha from the Faculty of Medicine, Mr. Steve Royle from the International Relations Office, as well as Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Head of the Marketing Department, Dr. Amjad Zain El-Dein and Dr. Nidal Dwaikat from the Faculty of Science at the University.
In the meeting, President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs welcomed the delegation and valued their visit to the University. She then presented a summary in which she familiarized the guests with the University, its history, the academic majors and faculties it has as well as the scientific centers that it includes which offer a variety of services to the local society.
Moreover, she emphasized the importance of the relationship between the Palestinians and the Japanese which is characterized by mutual cooperation. She stressed the necessity to maintain cooperation between the University and the Embassy in the different cultural and academic fields. The guests also visited the New Campus where they were introduced to the different facilities and centers there including the Faculty of Medicine, the Poison Control and Drug Information Center, the University's Museum, Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Theater, and the Media Center. Members of the delegation expressed their admiration by the level of development that the University has achieved over the years.
They also met with a number of students who were involved in the Origami (or Japanese Paper Folding art) course which is being held in cooperation between the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University and the Embassy of Japan in Palestine. The visit aimed to reinforce relationships between the University and the Japanese Embassy and to promote the Japanese culture and familiarize the Japanese people with the Palestinian history and culture. Such meetings will support future cooperation in various fields that would secure a better life for the Palestinians, especially University students.
