A delegation from the University of Totori and from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency visited the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at An-Najah University this week. The delegation included Ms. Haruyuki Fujimaki, Director of the Arid Land Agricultural Research Center, Mr. Naho Aizu, Assistant to Ms. Fujimaki, and Ms. Suruco, representative of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.

Dr. Soliman Al-Khalil, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at An-Najah, Department Heads, and faculty members welcomed the Japanese delegation. Dr. Al-Khalil presented an overview of An-Najah University and spoke in specific about the work of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.

The visit focused on discussing possibilities for cooperation between An-Najah’s Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and the University of Totori and the Arid Land Agricultural Research Center. Representatives from An-Najah and from the Japanese delegation spoke about study, research, and training missions for faculty and students from both sides in order to advance knowledge about dealing with arid land and combating desertification. 

An agreement was reached to begin preparations for a Memorandum of Understanding to govern future cooperative research and study missions.
