On February 21st, the Faculty of Media, in cooperation with the British Council and the Public Relations Department at An-Najah, inaugurated the activities of the Palestinian-British Short Film Week at the Faculty of Science Auditorium, New Campus.

Attendees included Dr. Atef Salameh, Dean of the Faculty of Media, Mr. Ayman Al-Nimer, Director of the Media Center, Mr. Muhammad Al-Koubari, as representative of the British Council, in addition to a number of faculty staff and students.

In the meeting, Dr. Salameh welcomed the audience and spoke about the current media activity that the Faculty of Media is carrying out, describing it as the starting point of a series of other activities that will be implemented. He also highlighted the importance of documentary work in preserving the cultural heritage and legacy of nations. He explained that the Palestinian people are in most need of such work since it is a vital means by which the Palestinians can convey and communicate their message to the world and promote their cause to other nations.

On his part, Mr. Al-Koubri thanked the University for its concern with and contribution to media. He also spoke about the British Council work and the spectrum of services that it offers to the Palestinians, including scholarships.

A number of short documentaries were featured during the inauguration ceremony which caught the audience’s attention who described the films as impressive and well-produced. The Short Film Week will consist of three other shows that will be displayed at the Cinema Room at the Faculty of Media.
