Inauguration of the Global Village Exhibition at the University
September 18th. As part of the International Volunteering Camp which is organized by the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department, the Global Village Exhibition was inaugurated at the University by Dr. Mohammed Hanoon, Vice President for Community Affairs, President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs, Professor Jawad Fatayer, President Assistant for Graduate Affairs, and Mr. Alaa Abu Dheer, Coordinator of Zajel.
The Global Village was organized based on the mission to introduce the students to the different cultures around the world in order to reinforce understanding and mutual exchange between the different cultures of the world.
A large number of international volunteers participated in the Exhibition who represented different countries including: United States, United Kingdom, Scotland, Australia, Portuguese, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Greece, Japan and Jordan.
The international volunteers also carry out workshops and training courses for the University students covering several subjects including English skills.
The students commented on their visit to the Exhibition by describing the experience as both rich and pleasant as they were able to familiarize themselves with the various cultures of the participating countries, their cuisine, traditions and heritage.
Such activities enrich the students’ knowledge of other cultures and people and enhance the chance for a better mutual understanding and respect between the world’s different cultures.
A number of institutions also participated in the Global Village including: EWASH, EAAPI and Project Hope.
