On April 22nd 2010, the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, inaugurated a paintings exhibition by the Romanian artist, Otilia Al-Nabulsi, at the Old Campus. A number of academics, journalists and students attended the event as well as representatives of several local organizations.
The exhibition was organized by the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department at the University and continues over the week. The exhibition displays a number of paintings that depict different cities and places in Palestine and Syria, like Nablus, Jerusalem, and Damascus.

Otilia Al-Nabulsi is a Romanian artist that specializes in graphic design and art. She has graduated from the University of Timişoara in Romania. Her paintings are characterized by their ability to express place and time with outstanding details. She uses a unique painting technique and employs different degrees of black, brown and white colors in order to reflect the ancient and historical value of the place or the city she is depicting. The participants said that her paintings reflected the values and traditions and history of the East, and personified the different stages in the Palestinian history, especially of cities like Jerusalem and Nablus.


Others mentioned that the exhibition introduces the students and the interested in the field of art to a new painting technique and provides them both with experience and inspiration.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Hamdallah honored the artist and valued her efforts and the impressive work she made.
