Ictus Plays its Melodies at the University
Francois Deppe, musician at Ictus said that Music has its own calmness and this is what the Palestinians need now. By these words, Deppe expressed his feelings after an hour of playing the concert that was organized by the Music Fund and the Fine Arts Faculty of the University. He added that the concert played in several cities in Palestine as well as in some refugee camps; they also organized workshops at the Fine Arts Faculty and the Nablus Culture Association.
The Music Fund organized several visits to the Palestinian Territories since 2002, Deppe said that Palestinians are suffering from the occupation and we sympathize with them, we do believe that music creates its own mood of quietness and calmness and we are trying to focus on children in order to develop their creativity, he also encouraged the Palestinian artists and musicians to visit Belgium and exchange their experiences with their fellows there.
At the end of the concert, Mr. Saed Abu Hijleh, Director of the Public Relations Department and Dr. Muhamad Ata, Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty gave the university plaque to the members of the concert to show appreciation for their efforts.
Music Fund is an organization that gives material support to young musicians and music schools in developing countries and conflict regions. It collects music instruments and makes sure that they are delivered to the music schools that are in need of them.
