On June 5^th 2010, the University celebrated the 8^th graduation commencement of Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology which was held at the College. Dr. Farouq Zuaiter, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hisham Hijjawi College, Dr. Ghassan Hilo, Dean of the College, as well as a number of representatives of several official and public institutions, members of the Board of Trustees and students attended the event.

In the ceremony, Dr. Zuaiter welcomed the guests and congratulated the students on their graduation. He also said that the Hijjawi College has been established to provide the society with professional technicians and experts in the different fields of industry and equip them with professional skills to be able to join the different facilities in the economical and industrial fields. Since technology has been progressing with a rapid pace, the College realized the need for individuals who have special qualifications that would enable the country to cope with the latest advancements in the field of technology.

There is an increasing demand for expert technicians and workers who have adequate skills and experience in dealing with advanced devices and tools because most factories and companies now employ the use of advanced technological devices. Such advanced devices can help the national economy progress at a faster pace, therefore, most local companies and even the educational institutions are now heavily dependant on such devices. Thus, having experts who can operate and maintain those devices is of great importance today.

He also added that the College has been equipped with the latest versions of technological devices which distinguished it from other educational institutions in Palestine. Therefore, the College Administration is working on adding new educational programs and training in order to provide the students with what they need in order to perform well in the work field in the future. In this respect, the College also has the intention to hold cooperation agreements with the Arab Fund for Economical and Social Development to enhance the professional level of Palestinian technicians. It will also hold similar cooperation projects with the German Government to offer adequate training and rehabilitation to enhance the educational level of the students and equip them with both theoretical and professional knowledge.

Dr. Hilo also congratulated the students and expressed his pleasure to be among them, sharing their happy moments. He then spoke about the College and the academic and professional programs it provides to the students in order to take the lead in the field of industry, technology and management. He also added that realizing the need for technology in almost every aspect of life today means that any society must have qualified individuals who could help in the building of their society.

He further said that professional and technological education has become a key element in the development of the country. Thus the college is seeking to provide society with experts in different fields who have the professional experience and skills that it needs in the building of its vital institutions. The College has also attempted to promote vocational education among young people which proved essential, especially in the world of today which demands a greater investment in this field.

Dr. Hilo also spoke about the different educational programs that the College offers in the field of vocational training. He also thanked the local and international institutions for their support, whether through training or financial support such as the GTZ, the DED, the British Council, the US.AID, Save the Children Organization and many others.

He also thanked the teaching staff for their efforts in supporting the educational process at the College.

Finally, the College's first student delivered a speech in which he thanked the College for the support it gave him during his study and the encouragement he received from his teachers. He also said that his success has been made possible thanks to the dedication that the instructors have shown. The facilities and services that the College provided to him enabled him to achieve the highest results and reach his goals.
