Guest Medical Sociologist from the US gives talk to students of the Faculty of Medicine
American Corner Nablus in cooperation with the Deputy President of Graduate Affairs, Dr. Jawad Fatayer, and the Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences-Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Walid Basha, hosted Dr. Christine Leuenberger of the prestigious U.S. based Cornell University. Dr. Christine Leuenberger presented on “How gender, social class, and socio-economic status affect health and illness.”
In attendance were Dr. Sami Al-Kilani, from Faculty of Educational Sciences, Dr. Basma Dmouri, Dr. Amira Shaheen, Dr. Rasha Khayyat, Dr. Majdi Dwikat, along with students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and American Corner volunteers.
Dr. Christine Leuenberger discussed the different life expectancies of groups of people based on a range of different cultural, biological, socio-economic, and geographical factors.
Students and professors alike found the presentation engaging and quite complimentary to some of the courses they are currently taking.
At the end of the lecture both University students and faculty had an opportunity to discuss with Dr. Christine Leuenberger her research.
