Student Lamis Majd is the first student of the University to finish her PhD in Chemistry in the Dye-Modified Nanocrystalline TiO2 Surfaces in Light - Driven Water Purification from Organic Contaminants. Lamis is the first Palestinian student to receive such a degree from a Palestinian university.
The University President, Prof. Rami Hamdalah said that the Chemistry Doctoral program is the sole Palestinian Program that grants such degrees. The program has local Palestinian professors who are well trained and eligible to supervise such studies. Prof. Hamdalah saluted the efforts of the students and the staff of the Chemistry Doctoral program. It is worth mentioning that the Chemistry Department granted its first master degree in 1987.
