Dr. Jawad Fatayer Delivers a Lecture at the University on the American Foreign Policy in the Middle East
On June 17th 2010, a meeting was organized between Dr. Jawad Fatayer, President Assistant for Alumni Affairs, and the local and international volunteers as part of the activities that the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department carries out in the international volunteering camp this year. Dr. Fatayer delivered a lecture on the American foreign policy in the Middle East and the double standards that the United States uses in addressing issues in the region.
Dr. Fatayer started the lecture with a brief description of the history of the Palestinian cause and highlighted the most significant phases in this history. He also spoke about his own experience as a Palestinian-American individual who have experienced a lot of difficulties and challenges while living outside Palestine. Furthermore, he addressed the issue of double standards with which the US administration addresses and deals with the Arab issues in general, and the Palestinian cause in particular.

He called upon leaders in the western world to employ some degree of objectivity in dealing with issues in other countries, especially in the Arab world and the Middle East. After that, a discussion was raised between Dr. Fatayer and the volunteers who exchanged ideas and questions about the possible solutions for the Palestinian cause and the psychological dimensions of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The meeting included discussing several issues related to the way the United States deals with Middle Eastern issues and other similar topics. The lecture comes as part of a series of workshops, meetings and seminars that are organized daily that focus on familiarizing internationals with the Palestinian cause and educating them about the Palestinian history, tradition and culture.
