June 30^th. In coordination with the Engineering Association-Al Quds Center and the Palestinian Engineers Association, Dr. Jalal Dabbeek, Director of the Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center at An-Najah University and the Vice President of the National Authority for Disaster Risk Mitigation in Palestine, participated in a meeting for the Engineering Education Committee which is part of the Union of Arab Engineers. The meeting was held in Beirut, Lebanon.

In the meeting, the Committee discussed a number of issues including: The establishment of an Engineering Programs Adoption Body at the Beirut Arab University in coordination with the concerned Arab bodies and institutions and setting mechanisms to control the quality of engineering education at Arab universities. Also, plans have been set to encourage the adoption of engineering programs at the engineering faculties by the Engineering Education Committee according to the applicable standards.

The participants also suggested a number of methods to develop the adoption criteria and how to link the universities’ visions and missions with the engineering programs it offers, as well as the extent to which the local market is in need of such programs.
