In a historical visit to An-Najah, His Excellency Dr. Abdelsalam Al-Majali, Former Prime Minister of Jordan, expressed admiration by the level of advancement the University has achieved and its unique current status.

Dr. Al-Majali was received by the University’s President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, Nablus Governor, Brigadier Jibrin Al-Bakri, in addition to University Vice Presidents, Assistants, Faculties Deans and the Directors of the different administrative departments.

In the meeting Prof. Hamdallah welcomed Dr. Al-Majali to An-Najah and emphasized the close and strong relationships between the people of Palestine and Jordan. He also thanked His Majesty, King Abdullah the Second, for his continuous support of the Palestinian people and cause.

The President also familiarized the Prime Minster with An-Najah, its history, and the different stages of development it went through since 1918 to date. Moreover, he spoke about the various faculties, departments and study programs that are offered to students in a wide scope of study fields. He also described the University-based scientific centers that offer a variety of services to the local society.

In addition to this, a short documentary was screened which summarized the University’s story, the most prominent stages it has witnessed over the last ten years, as well as the various ranks and achievements it obtained such as the Webometrics ranking which gave it a high rank among other universities locally, regionally and internationally.

Furthermore, the President explained the University’s policy which targets the students’ skill development and experience enrichment through involving them in academic decision-making and giving them the chance to participate in the faculties’ and department’s councils.

Dr. Al-Majali thanked Prof. Hamdallah for his hospitality and took the chance to express admiration by the level of advancement and success the University has achieved. He also expressed his pride of An-Najah which was able to make significant achievements despite the difficult situations on the ground and the many challenges ahead.

Based on his extensive experience in the field of education Dr. Al-Majali pointed out the importance of this field and the possible methods that can be adopted to develop this sector. He said the daily interaction between the students and the staff is of extreme importance as it eliminates any barriers that might exist between the University and the society where it operates.

Furthermore, Dr. Al-Majal spoke about his personal experience in the field of university management and administration as he was the former president of Jordan University; he was also the first doctor in Jordan and the founder of its higher education system.

His Excellency also visited the New Campus, particularly the Faculty of Physical Education, where Dr. Waleed Khanfar, the Faculty’s Dean, delivered a detailed presentation about the Faculty and its facilities such as the Swimming Pool, the closed halls…etc.

At the end of the visit Prof. Hamdallah presented Dr. Al-Majali with the University’s Shield in appreciation and recognition of his honorable visit.
