Director of Seismic Engineering Center Participates in a Meeting for Arab Engineers in Kuwait
Dr. Jalal Dabeek, Director of Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center at An-Najah National University, participated in a meeting for the Engineering Education Committee of the Arab Engineers Union held in State of Kuwait from 22-23 May 2009.
Dr. Dabeek said that the meeting included a work schedule for the action plan of the Committee during 2009-2011, in addition to the proposal of turning the engineering educational in the Union into a scientific periodical. This will include the subject of engineering dictionary, the study of the proposal to establish the Arab academic accreditation committee, evaluation of a number of the engineering programs in the Arab countries, and the discussion of an executive mechanism to collect the fees of evaluation from the Faculties of Engineering at Arab Universities (according to the decision of the General Assembly of the Union).
Members of the committee reviewed a report on turning the engineering educational in the Union into a scientific periodical, and they discussed the mechanism to do it, so it reaches an international level. They also discussed the issue of the engineering dictionary and focused on file a recommendation to the general assembly to give it a priority, as well as the issue of establishing the Arab accreditation committee. A follow-up committee was formed from Dr. Jalal Dabeek, Palestine; Dr. Ali Badran, Jordan; Dr. Hussein AlKhayyat, Kuwait and Dr. Hassan Abdul Ghanni, Yemen. The committee will put a detailed proposal for on the effective mechanisms to implement the meeting's recommendations.
