Prof. Franco Rizzi, the Director of Euro-Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), visited the University today. Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the University’s President, welcomed the guest and presented an explanation about An-Najah and the role it takes in servicing and developing the teaching process in Palestine.  He also spoke about the quality of academic programs that the university offers, in addition to the academic centers that develop and serve the Palestinian community in many aspects.

During the meeting, Prof. Rami Hamdallah reiterated the importance of cooperation to enhance dialogue between Universities of Palestine and Euro-Mediterranean Universities.  He added that An-Najah National University has taken important steps in this field through signing a number of significant cooperation agreements with various Euro-Mediterranean universities for the purpose of exchanging experiences, scientific research and study abroad scholarships. He said that the niversity gives a great deal of importance to these kinds of cooperation so that it forms a pillar to enhance the international and regional dimension for academic relations of the university.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Maher Natsheh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, President's Assistant for International Affairs, Dr. Jalal Dabeek, Coordinator of Scientific Centers, Dr Ammar Jarrar, Director of Projects Unit,  Ins. Rafe Daraghmeh, Director of An-Najah Alumni Unit and Mr. Amer Mahmoud from An-Najah National University Libraries.

Dr. Franco Rizzi expressed his delight to visit An-Najah and to meet with Prof. Hamdallah and a number of the university staff. He stressed the importance of academic cooperation with An-Najah University in the Euro-Mediterranean Union context. He mentioned that the Union was founded in 1991, and currently consists of 84 Mediterranean universities. This network aims to enhance cooperation amongst them in the fields of Scientific Research, Cultural Exchange, Information Technology, Environmental and Health Issues. In addition he added that developing the relations among the various universities and serving the expansion of Euro-Mediterranean relations, especially in the scientific research and academic cooperation sectors was of utmost importance.
