Dr Helga Baumgarten, Head of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) office in East Jerusalem and Professor at Birzeit University, gave a presentation on DAAD programmes. The workshop was attended by graduate students interested in applying for DAAD scholarships to study for Masters and PhD degrees.
DAAD decided to focus on Palestine because of the current difficult situation here. Every year many students and professors receive scholarships from DAAD in order to complete their studies in Germany or take up research projects with counterparts in Germany.
