DAAD Representative Visits An-Najah University
Dr. Hilga Baumgarten, the DAAD representative from the Jerusalem office recently visited An-Najah National University in Nablus. The DAAD - German Academic Exchange Service - promotes cooperative international academic and scientific exchange for students and faculty.
Dr. Baumgarten and the Administrator of Public Relations, Mr. Rafi’ Daraghmeh, discussed plans for future coordination between DAAD and the university. Also on the agenda was a review of scholarships on offer from the institution in various fields at the M.A. and PhD. Levels. Short-term study visits to Germany by outstanding Najah students and faculty are also available.
During her visit Dr. Hilga spoke with students, researchers, and faculty regarding the standards required for acceptance into DAAD scholarship programs, especially to German universities and how to obtain scholarship application forms. She also gave information on how to apply to Jordanian universities and the necessary requirements.
Mr. Daraghmeh mentioned that DAAD has in the past conferred many scholarships on Palestinian students, enabling them to continue with advanced studies at Jordanian and German universities. Short-term programs are also available to academics for study in Germany. Large numbers of students from all universities in Palestine continue to apply for DAAD scholarships.
