Cypriot Ambassador visits An-Najah
On Thursday 6 March Dr. Sami Jaber, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dr. Mohammad Hanoon Vice President for Administrative Affairs, welcomed Mr. Nicos Panayi, the Cypriot representative in Palestine. Mr. Panayi visited to discuss potential academic cooperation between An-Najah and Cypriot universities.
Dr. Jaber welcomed Mr. Panayi and briefed him on the history of An-Najah since its establishment to its development into the university it is today.
The meeting included the screening of a documentary film about An-Najah University produced by its Media Centre, focusing on the stages of the University’s development, including the founding of the University hospital, which provides quality medical services to the Palestinian public. It also looked at the University’s support of scientific research.
Dr. Hannoon briefed the guests on the University’s relations with prestigious international universities, and thanked the Cypriot ambassador for his visit hoping for cooperation between An-Najah and Cypriot universities.
Mr. Daraghmeh, from the Alumni Unit, spoke about An-Najah‘s Alumni Unit and the role it plays in communicating with the alumni of the university to create networks between them and the professional world on a national and a regional level.
Mr. Panayi thanked An-Najah for receiving him and expressed his admiration for the university’s achievements and his wish to establish mutual cooperation with An-Najah in different academic aspects and student exchanges.
Mr. Panayi also expressed his delight for being in Nablus, and referred to the strong relationship between Cyprus and Palestine, and the latter’s support of Palestinian rights.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador and University officials exchanged gifts and agreed upon further meetings to promote cooperation.
The meeting with the ambassador was also attended by Dr. Tarik El-Hajj, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and Mr. Khaled Mufleh, Acting Director of Public Relations.
