invited by the United Nations Human Settlement Program (UN-HABITAT) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Dr. Ali Abdel Hameed, Director of the Center for Urban and Regional Planning (CURP), participated in the activities and events of a meeting held in Cairo recently titled “Sustainable Cities and Holding Houses and Lands” De. Abdel Hameed Presented his paper titled “ Urban Development in the Palestinian Territories” which is supervised by the Mawel Program.
The meeting focused on the role of ESCWA in housing and urban management. A number of other reports were presented on topics related to sustainable development. Dr. Abdel Hameed presented another paper on the challenges facing regional and urban planning associations in the Palestinian Territories. The conferencing participants made some recommendations. Primarily they demanded the international community to intervene to prevent Israeli occupation and destruction of Palestinians homes infrastructure.
