Under the patronage of the Euro-Mediterranean University in Slovenia, An-Najah National University participated in the video-conference on "Unity and Diversity of Euro-Mediterranean Identities," held at the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence at the University's New Campus, in cooperation with Anna Lindh Foundation, UN Alliance of Civilization, European Training Foundation, and the participation of scholars and researchers from 17 Euro-Mediterranean universities from 14 countries. An-Najah participated as a founder and organizer on Palestine level in the conference that aims at giving the opportunity for participants, especially students, to present their research.

The conference was attended by Prof. Rami Hamdallah, University's President, Dr. Maher Natsheh, Vice President for Academic Affairs,  President Assistant for International Affairs, Ms. Yasmeen Shahroor, Acting Director of Public Relations Department, Mr. Steven Royle, Strategic Analysis & Policy Officer at An-Najah, Dr. Sam Fuqha, Chair of Marketing Department at the Faculty of Economics, and the Coordinator of the Conference,  as well as a number of University's Deans, Chair of Departments, and students. representatives of International Organizations.

Prof. Joseph Mifsud, President of EMUNI University, in his welcoming remarks, emphasized the importance of the conference that meets the aims of EMUNI in taking training into action. He thanked all supporters and participants and briefed them on the growth and development of the university.

Prof. Mifsud described the event as a Souk "marketplace" where all ideas are shared and put into action through research in a multi-cultural environment of dialogue. He said that research is not a mere information quest, but rather exchanging ideas, expertise and cultures among different institutions, and countries.

Representatives of European Institutions, in their remarks, emphasized the role of education as a key to the future in the Euro-Med region.  They talked about sharing experiences and seeking cooperation in a multi-cultural community, and the understanding among nations. They talked about diversity of cultures and identities in the region.

Speakers are Dr. Muhammad Bin Achour, from the Arab League Education Culture and Scientific Organization, Dr. Giancarlo Caratti, from the European Commission and H.E. Veronika Stabej from the Government Communication office in Slovenia.

Mr. Steven Royle talked about the importance of holding such a conference that forms a meeting point to promote dialogue and exchange of ideas among different nations, and pointed out the importance of communication between different cultures through all means. 

On her turn, President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs, in her remarks on behalf of the University's President, pointed out the university's pride in participation in the EMUNI 1^st research Souk, and in the first conference for the Unity and Diversity of Euro-Mediterranean Cultural Identities.

She praised the pioneer role that the EMUNI plays in enhancing the relations among the Cultures of the Euro- Mediterranean. She also pointed out the possibilities of cultural meeting despite of all environmental, commercial, political, cultural and geographical dimensions, insuring that cultural unity is a basic need of developing abilities and enhancing relations among different institutions in those countries. 

President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs concluded he remarks, by pointing out the great role that the university plays in developing cultural and academic education with different institutions and universities, through its distinctive relations and the twinning agreement signed by the university.

A number of participants presented work papers on culture and dialogue among nations.

Dr. Fuqha, at the end of the conference, thanked the University's administration represented by its President, for the continuous support to establish distinguished relations with all international institutions. He also thanked President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs for what she presented of continuous efforts to hold this conference, and thanked all organizers of this conference of international organizers, institutions and universities.
