The Conference on Development and Reconstruction took place at the University under the patronage of the Etilaf Alkhair Association. It is considered as an opportunity to discuss the potentials and possibilities required to implement plans and strategies for development. The conference took place with the participation of researchers, academics, investors and different companies.
Mr. Salah Al-Masri, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, underlined the importance of this conference in terms of its mission in development planning and finding job opportunities. Other objectives of the conference included working on the development of both the private and the public sector, especially in business, services and tourism.
Prof. Rami Hamdalla, the University President, pointed out a parallel conference in development issues which would take place in the Gaza strip in order to allow the assistance of Gaza participants that have been prevented from coming to Nablus due to the siege of Gaza. That parallel conference will focus on development and reconstruction issues in the Gaza strip. He stressed the importance of holding the conference in a time when Israelis are continuing their invasions, as the country is in great need of more efforts in the economic, social, industrial and agricultural spheres. He urged the civic society association and the private and public sectors to work together to maintain safety in order to be able to launch the construction projects.
Submitted papers focused on the removal of the devastation occupation has caused, the reconstruction of infrastructures, social development, educational development, childhood care, health care, female development and other strategic topics. Papers were presented during the two days of the conference activities, while recommendations were submitted at the end of conference.
