In cooperation between the Office of the University President for Graduate Affairs and the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) at An-Najah University, a training course on developing the students’ competitive capacities was successfully concluded on March 29th. The 18-hour course was administered by Anne Yaish who trained the students on various skills that would contribute to the reinforcement of their competitive abilities in the work market.

During the period of the course, students were trained on how write their CV’s, search for job vacancies online, communicate with different companies and institutions, meeting with employers, suggesting projects, undergoing model interviews that simulate real interviewing situations, in addition to advices and instruction on how to succeed in the work field.

Professor Jawad Fatayer, University President Assistant for Graduate Affairs, expressed his appreciation for trainer Yaish who employed a mixture of training and interaction with the students. He added that the relationship between the trainer and the student has revealed the students’ abilities and energies.

Trainer Yaish has shown considerable concern with the practical side of the training and encouraged the students to explore their and recognize their personalities, a fact that was evident during the model interviews that the course included. In these interviews, the students went through conditions similar to those which they will experience in real life.

Student, Zain Barham from the Faculty of Engineering, said the course was considerably useful to us and stressed the necessity to involve university students who are about to graduate to join such courses before joining the work market. She added that she benefited a lot from the interview exercises especially that they were made in English which helped the students improve and develop their skills in English.
