Computer Engineering Student Akram Dwaikat Participates in the International Hackathon for Social Good in Abu-Dhabi
The Computer engineering student, Akram Dwaikat, participated in the NYUAD International Hackathon for Social Good in the Arab World. Organized by New York University and held in Abu Dhabi, the contest aims to produce new cell phone applications and websites to serve communities in the Arab world.
Eighty students from all over the world participated in the contest. They worked in teams for three successive days to develop ideas for mobile applications which could benefit the community. Dwaikat, a member of the Adventure team, worked with teammates on developing a mobile application to help color-blind patients to distinguish between colors using mobile phone camera technology.
Dwaikat said he was proud to participate in this contest and to partake in this unique experience which enabled him to meet other students from all over the world and to create a socially beneficial application.
Dwaikat was the only undergraduate participant from Palestine in this year’s event.
