On the 17th of January 2009, the Societal Training Unit at the Community Service Center finished a training course on preparing field voluntary work supervisors. More than 24 volunteers participated in the course in which various topics were discussed such as: team building, developing contact, communication, leadership and first aid skills.
The course comes as a complement to the field voluntary work program that aims at carrying out a series of voluntary activities in different areas in Nablus. Course coordinator, Anan Abu Shihab, said that this voluntary work requires the ability to manage and plan, to possess personal skills and to be able to take decisions, persuade and influence others. Volunteers who participated in the course have also been volunteering in more than 92 voluntary mission in Nablus; they said that the course has raised awareness among them regarding the importance of field, societal work.
The course aimed at enhancing the social relationships between the volunteers and their society, promote field, voluntary work among people, help the volunteers develop communication skills, build-up their experience, and increase their contribution to the welfare of the society.
A number of voluntary activities were carried out in different locations in Nablus. Such activities included: cleaning public parks and gardens, schools, archeological Sites, planting trees and others. Several local institutions and societies thanked An-Najah University and the Community Service Center for their effort in raising awareness among people concerning the environment and the local community.
