Community Service Center and Movimondo Conclude a Psychosocial Support Project
05 February 2005
A meeting was held at An-Najah National University to discuss and evaluate the Psychosocial Support Project for marginalized communities. The project was implemented by the Community Service Center of An-Najah and the Movimondo, an Italian NGO, supported by 'ECHO' Office of the European Union.
The meeting began with a presentation by Ismail Abu Zyadeh, the project Coordinator, who talked about the project and its target group. It was contended that almost three thousand and three hundred women, children and teenagers from the different villages of Jenin, Nablus and Salfit benefited from the project directly, in addition to their families and the workers of partner associations.
Abu Zyadeh explained that target groups were divided into smaller groups after a primary study of their needs, each group being taken care of by a qualified team of community workers. In addition, a number of trained volunteers worked as assistants to the community workers.
Mr. Sami Al-Kilani, the Director of the Community Service Center, thanked Movimondo for its efforts and spoke about the importance of such projects to the Palestinian people in their difficult circumstances.
Ms. Enza Dierio, the representative of Movimondo, then spoke about the need for such projects, finishing the meeting by expressing her hopes for their continuation in the future.
