In co-operation with the Ashtar Theater in Ramallah, a play entitled “Turab Al wattan Hanoon” (the soil of the homeland is tender), written by Fahed Samhan, was performed on two different days at Zafer Al-Masri Auditoriums. On the first day the crew was comprised from Al-Quds University students and the Director Nidal Allan of Ashtar Theater; on the second day, the play was performed by students of Birzeit University and was directed by Ahlam Safi.
In each performance, the play talked about the same realistic story but had two different processes and scenarios; students wrote their own scripts and prepared their own props and decorations. The story talked about the simple life of a Palestinian family; consisting of a mother, a son and a daughter. It followed the struggles they face in life following the killing of the family's father during the Palestinian resistance. Above all the difficulties Mahmoud, the son, works hard, trying his best to support his family so that he can pay for both his own and his sister’s education. As the story continues the pressure on Mahmoud and his family increases; especially after “Abu Rabi”, Mahmoud’s employer and the villain of the story, intervenes to make life even harder for the family. However, the story took different endings with each performance and left it open for the audience to imagine how each story might continue.
