 On Tuesday 22 April, Dr. Alastair McPhail, the newly appointed British Consulate-General to Jerusalem, visited An-Najah National University and met with Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah.

Professor Natsheh welcomed Dr. McPhail to An-Najah and congratulated him on his appointment. Pro f. Natsheh applauded the British Consulate’s role in building strong relations between An-Najah and British Universities. He particularly highlighted the strong relationship with Lancaster University, which An-Najah works with as part of their PhD Programme in Physics. He also talked about the British Council’s role in supporting the educational process by facilitating Scholarships, study visits to the British Universities, visas and the IELTS Exam.

Prof. Natsheh also spoke about the recent Institutional Evaluation Programme’s visit to An-Najah and the great effort the University has made to support and encourage scientific research, and provide quality medical services through its Training Hospital.

The meeting also included the screening of a short film about An-Najah titled “A success story”, which was prepared by the Media Centre.

Dr. McPhail expressed his pride in An-Najah for the impressive achievements he witnessed in the different academic fields. He also stated his pleasure at visiting An-Najah, and his wish to continue the cooperation between the British Consulate and the University.

Finally, University officials and Dr. McPhail exchanged gifts and agreed upon further meetings.

1- The meeting was also attended by the Vice President for International Development and External Affairs, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Acting Director of Public Relations and Director of the British Council Office in Nablus.

2-The Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP) team visited An-Najah last week as a fulfillment of An-Najah’s request to assess and evaluate the University's achievements and accomplishments since the previous evaluation in 2011.
