An-Najah’s Vice President Assistant for Academic Affairs Participates in a Workshop in Hungary
Between February 16th and 19th, the Vice President Assistant for Academic Affairs at An-Najah National University, Dr. Ali Habayeb, participated in a workshop on Higher Education Policy in a Global World which was organized at the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary by the AMIDEAST.
The workshop contributors included: Marvin Lazerson, Professor of Higher Education Policy at the CEU, Richard Gillingwater, MD, Accrue Brand Value, and Pusa Nastase, Program Manager, Special Projects Office.
The professors and the attendants discussed several issues related to higher education policy. Professor Lazerson presented a work paper titled “Massification” as a policy dilemma: is it real?” in addition to another work paper titled “Financial policies: who pays, how much, for what purposes”.
He also spoke about some selected policy issues including: student experiences, borderless higher education and management and governance, in addition to a lecture on higher education and the American Dream.
Professor Gillingwater and Professor Nastase spoke about university branding and university branding in a globalized world.
Dr. Habayeb on his part spoke about the policies as well as the advanced academic and administrative steps that are taking place at An-Najah University which aim to develop the level of higher education in Palestine. Such efforts target the students skills and experience and seek to keep them up-to-date with the latest developments in their fields of study.
Many professors and researchers from different countries including Palestine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Hungary and Romania. Dr. Habayeb has previously participated in a similar workshop titled “Education and Learning, Its Policies and Application Means” in the same place in June 2010.
