An-Najah’s Projects Unit Hosts Dr. Amal Kharouf from the Women’s Studies Center at the University of Jordan
January 27th. The Projects Unit at An-Najah organized a seminar on women empowerment and her social role at the Conferences Room at the Old Campus library in which Dr. Amal Kharouf from the Women’s Studies Center at the University of Jordan lectured.
Dr. Khalid Eleiwi, Director of the Projects Unit, welcomed Dr. Kharouf and valued her visit to the University. In her lecture, Dr. Kharouf highlighted the important role that the Women’s Studies Center plays in giving women a pioneering role in the society and enables her to take an important position in the social life. She explained that the Center aims to conduct studies on women issues so as to help them achieve and develop their creative skills.
She also mentioned some of the achievements of the Center which included: the quality of the studies it conducts, the fact that it has participated in several regional studies, the women prosperity and development project it implemented, and others.
Dr. Kharouf spoke about a number of consultancies that the Center has been able to provide since its establishment in 2006 including the preparation of Arab Woman Guide, the participation in the preparation of the Second National Report, preparing the Population and Development in Jordan Report, as well as organizing a number of seminars both in Jordan and other Arab countries.
Dr. Kharouf holds a B.A and a Master degree from the University of Jordan, as well as a PhD degree from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom.
