On Wednesday, November 19th , the American Corner Nablus and in collaboration with Ibdaa hosted an event for Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) entitled "An Najah's Entrepreneurs", at the IT Palestinian Korean Institute of Excellence. 

Dr. Yahya Saleh, Director of An-Najah’s Business Innovation Center (NaBIC), welcomed the guests and praised the American Corner Nablus for their efforts in organizing this event.  Dr. Saleh went on introducing An-Najah’s efforts in maintaining and developing the quality of learning in addition to the quality of students’ skills.  He explained how NaBIC was established as a step toward strengthening and promoting the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.  He also stressed the importance of building sustainable partnerships with private enterprises and public organizations. Lastly, He thanked the supervisors of GEW in Palestine for their efforts towards enhancing and promoting a creativity culture. 

Dr. Rasem Suwwan, CEO of Ibdaa, welcomed the attendees and commended the ACN’s role in being a part of GEW and preparing for the event.  Dr. Suwwan then introduced Ibdaa and its role in supporting entrepreneurial technological projects or ideas by selecting the best ideas and providing them the technical & financial help needed to prosper. He also talked about the importance of being an entrepreneur during the hard economical conditions and the lack of job opportunities.

 Ms. Inas Badawi from Tomorrow's Youth Organization (TYO) spoke about programs at TYO pertaining to entrepreneurship.

Then Mr. Rafiq Masri, the keynote speaker and founder and president of U.S. based IT company Network Management, discussed his experiences as an entrepreneur and how failure doesn’t end the life of an entrepreneur.  Mr. Masri also explained how failure can lead to major successes if one learns from his experiences.  He also stressed the importance of learning the basics of success.

Three of the winning projects for Al Nayzak's “Made in Palestine” innovation contest presented on their winning projects and answered questions at the end.

-          The event was attended by Mr. Rafiq Al Masri, Ms. Inas Badawi, Dr. Rasem Suwwan and students and faculty.

-          Al-Nayzak Made In Palestine winning projects are:

  • Braille Automatic Printer created by Yasmeen Muntaser Ateeq, Jamal Rateb Khaleef, Mahmoud Omar Qsarweh, and Tareq Ziad Khanfeh
  • The Smart Interactive Treadmill created by Shadi Qza'a and Yazan Arafat
  • The Mua'amalaty Application created by Hadeel Baseem Yamen
