In a ceremony held to honour “The Journalist Friends of Local Government” Competition in Ramallah, organised by the Ministry of Local Government in cooperation with the German Development Agency (GIZ), An-Najah has ranked first in the category of Written Media. The ranking was as follows:

-          1st - Ghaidaa Al-Najjar, Department of Electronic Media and Journalism.

-          2nd - Iman Fouqaha, Department of Electronic Media and Journalism.

-          3rd - Mohammad Karakira, Department of Electronic Media and Journalism.

In cooperation with the Palestinian Journalist Syndicate (PJS) with the support of the GIZ, Journalist Bashar Daraghmeh, Al-Hayah Al-Jadeeda Newspaper, ranked first in the category of Written Media; in the category of Audio Media, Journalist Razan Nimr, from Voice of Palestine; Mou’tasem Al Oweiwi, Television of Palestine, in the category of Visual Media; and Isam Al-Rimawi, in the category of Photojournalism, all ranked first.

A number of journalists from various fields of media and students from different Palestinian universities participated in the competition to raise issues and achievements and promote transparency and objective journalism.

Dr. Ayman Al-Masri, a member of the Commission of Arbitration and lecturer at An-Najah, said that winners were selected based on the depth of the subject, nature of the idea and integrity of their journalism, as well as being relative to community issues.

Dr. Saed Al-Kouni, Minister of Local Government, and Prof. Sami Jaber, Vice President for Academic Affairs, participated in the awards ceremony.
