An-Najah University Signs an Agreement with the Korean University for Technology and Education

On Wednesday, 27 of January 2010, the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, received a Korean academic delegation that represented the Korea University for Technology and Education (KUT). The delegation included: Dr. Jeon Un-Ki, president of Korea University, Professor Jeong, Jong-Dae, Faculty of Information Technology Dean, Professor Jeong Shick Yoon, Director of International Relations at the university, as well as Councilor Park Jeongnam of the Korean Embassy in Tel Aviv.
Attending the meeting was Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, President Assistant for International and Strategic Affairs and Dr. Khalid Barham, Director of the Korean Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence at the University. Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the guests and presented a brief description of An Najah University, its faculties, facilities, the developments it witnessed and its deep concern with scientific research. He also spoke about the importance of establishing and maintaining cooperation with Korean universities to benefit from the different programs they offer. He discussed the Korean Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence and the programs it offers, and hoped that cooperation would be developed so that it includes academic exchange, joint researches, and exchanging students between the two universities.
Prof. Abu Eid said that An Najah University is interested in cooperating with the Korean university in the field of applied researches. He added that An Najah University has produced a number of researches and intends to send the researchers to Korea for further scientific cooperation.
Dr. Jeon Un-Ki stressed the importance of cooperation and contact between the two universities and to further support joint projects and exchange academic visits. The Korean delegation also gave a presentation about the Korea University (KUT) which included a description of its departments, programs, training labs, curriculum, and the cooperation between the university and other technology institutions in Korea.
After the meeting, a tour to the New Campus was organized in which the delegation was introduced to the Faculty of Engineering represented by its Dean, Dr. Nabil Dmaidi, who presented a description of the Faculty's sections, labs and specializations. The guests also visited the Korean Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence where they were introduced to the different activities and training courses that are available there.
An agreement was signed between An Najah University and the Korean university in which cooperation in the field of information technology, academic exchange and joint research was addressed.
