Dr. Sulaiman Khalil, Dean of the Faculty of Science at An-Najah University, participated in the Ninth Meeting for the Society of the Faculties of Science which is a member in the Association of Arab Universities. The Meeting was organized at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) in Beirut on February 6th and 9th.

Thirty of the Deans of Faculties of Science from different universities attended the Meeting. Other attendees included: Professor Sultan Abu Orabi, Secretary General at the Association of Arab Universities, Professor Hady Mahfouz, President of USEK, Dr. Hashim Al-Sayyed, Secretary-General of the Society of the Faculties of Science, as well as Dr. Badih Baz, Dean of the Faculty of Science at USEK.

Dr. Baz delivered a speech in which he welcomed the participants and thanked them for their interest in the event.  Dr. Hashem Al-Sayed, Secretary-General of the Society, reviewed the statute of the Society, as well as its administrative and financial report that resulted from the collaborative meeting at Yarmouk University.

In the meeting of the Society’s executive Committee the attendants were introduced to the minutes of the eighth meeting, approved it and discussed the administrative and financial report, in addition to discussing the joining of Thi Qar, Kufa and Zagazig universities of the Society.

In the meeting of the Society’s general body, the minutes of the eighth meeting was approved, the administrative and financial meeting was discussed, and the membership applications for the universities of Thi Qar, Kufa and Zagazig were accepted. The Mathematics Olympics was held and the winners of the first three places were the University of Jordan, University of Bahrain and the University of Baghdad, respectively.

In the third of the meeting, the attendants were introduced to the Association of Arab Universities’ meeting by Dr. Al-Sayed. Dr. Faleh Hamza spoke about the private universities and their role in the Arab world.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Khalil thanked Prof. Hamdallah and the An-Najah University’s administration for supporting his participation in the event which aimed to exchange research and scientific information.
