An-Najah University Organizes Open Meeting with American Feminist Thinkers
On June 23rd, in cooperation between the Public Relations Department at An-Najah University and the Arab and Muslims Ethnicities and Diaspora Initiative at the College of Ethnic Studies, San Francisco State University, an open meeting under the title “Who we are and why we came to Palestine? A Solidarity Message from another America” was organized with the American feminist thinkers as part of their visit to the University.
The American thinkers represented different cultural and ethnic backgrounds including the indigenous people of America, the U.S colored minority, in addition to Palestinian women interested in gender studies. The meeting was administered by Dr. Rabab Abdel Hadi, Associate Professor in ethnic studies, the study of race and resistance, and expert in the study of Arab and Muslim communities at the San Francisco State University in the United States.
The American women who participated in the meeting were among the leading women who struggled to achieve the civil rights of the indigenous people of America over the past decades. The meeting aimed to exchange thoughts and opinions as well as reinforce communication between the Palestinian and American feminist movements which focus on the Justice for All principle in their speeches and programs.
The meeting came as a step toward encouraging people around the world to show solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle to gain independence and freedom
