The Architectural Engineering Department of An-Najah University lead the annual Tom Kay Competition for Architectural Drawing, organized by RIWAQ, taking three out of four awards.  The Head of An-Najah’s Department of Architectural Engineering, Dr. Iman Al-Amd, noted that Rania Abd Al-Monam Jamous took second place, Hind Shunar won third place, and A’laa Abd-Al Halim Abu Asl received a consolation prize. 

Fida Touma, Director of RIWAQ, announced the results of the competition this past Wednesday in a letter to the competing universities. Fifteen students from different Palestinian universities including An-Najah University, Palestine Polytechnic University, Bir Zeit University, and the International Art Academy of Palestine competed for four prizes.  Drawings were judged based on artistic composition and expression, technical competence, and originality.  The judges’ committee was composed of three engineers from RIWAQ, Mr. Samih Aboushi, Mr. Amer As-Shumuli, and Ms. Lana Joudeh. 

The competition encourages students to develop their free-hand drawing skills to an advanced level.

Dr. Ahmad Ramahi, Dean of the Engineering Faculty, congratulated the Architectural Engineering Department and all of its faculty and students for their superior performance in the competition. Dr. Ramahi also thanked An-Najah University President, Dr. Rami Hamdallah, for his support to the engineering faculty and all of its departments. For his part, Dr. Hamdallah offered his congratulations to the winning students, thanked their faculty supervisors, and wished the engineering faculty continued success.
